
: For thirty two years, Mike Toby has served as the Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church of Woodway. He grew up in Pasadena, Texas, and it was in the Richey Street Baptist Church that he accepted Christ and later sensed God's call to ministry.
It was at Houston Baptist University that Mike met Jackie Kay Compton of Odessa, who was to become his wife. They both graduated from Sam Houston State University. Mike and Jackie have two sons, Josh and Scott, who are now married and live in Central Texas, and three beautiful grandchildren. Mike attended New Orleans Baptist and Southwestern Baptist Seminaries, receiving his Masters of Divinity from the latter. He has since completed his Doctor of Ministry class work at Golden Gate Theological Seminary and awarded an honorary doctorate from Howard Payne University.
Mike served on the staff of churches in Louisiana, Florida, Arkansas and Texas. Before coming to First Woodway, Mike served as the pastor of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church of Texarkana, Texas. In addition, Mike has served as an executive board member for the Baptist General Convention of Texas and as a trustee for these organizations: Baptist Memorial of San Angelo, Howard Payne University, Goodwill, the Waco Family YMCA and on the Board of Directors of Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center. He has also been actively involved in the Waco Baptist Association, serving three times as President of the Pastor's Conference.
Mike is an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fly fishing, and golf. He and Jackie share a special fondness for Colorado and enjoy vacationing in the beautiful San Juan Mountains.
