is our Director of Local Missions and Women's Ministries, and is proud to be a Christ follower from the BIG old state of Texas. She attended Sam Houston State University before moving to Waco and joining First Baptist Woodway. Doris was a member and servant to our church, and our inner-city community, for 22 years before "officially" coming on staff.
When Doris was asked to coordinate our Local Missions efforts in November 2002, she only asked that we first allow her to serve for one year as a volunteer while she took time to seek God's wisdom. We are so glad God directed her to sign on as our Local Missions Director in November 2003 and our Women's Ministry Coordinator in 2004.
Doris has been married to Vernon (whom she affectionately calls "Pug" or "Daddy") for 31 years, and they have three children: LeighAnne, their oldest, who is married to Jay Fischer and living in Waco, who have provided Doris & Vernon with two precious grandsons to play with. Danielle, their middle child, is married to Shane Wilson and resides in Richardson, Texas with their adoravble new baby girl. PJ, their youngest child and only son is married to Katie and they reside in Fort Worth, Texas. They recently added a blessing of three newly adopted grandchildren into Doris and Vernon's life.
Hobbies and Interests: Doris loves to laugh, spend time with her family and friends, sew when she has time, but most of all, loves to serve her Lord by serving others.
Life Verse: Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. ~ Philippians 4:5-7
