From Senior Pastor, Dr. Michael Toby
What a privilege it is to be part of a healthy and growing church. Your faithfulness, week in and week out, has resulted in our average Sunday morning attendance increasing by over 100 for each of the last six years. This is one of the strong evidences that you take seriously our mission to reach our community and world for Christ. With this growth comes the challenge to provide the needed facilities for them. Our “Children’s Building” project not only addresses the needs for our youngest members, but will provide the much needed space for our adults, as well. I can only try to imagine how many children and adults will have the opportunity to come to know Christ and grow as His disciples because of your vision for the future.

The “Growing Our Future” campaign is our way of inviting you to help us make these new facilities a reality, without long term debt. We are asking you to prayerfully consider making a financial commitment over and above your normal ministry gifts. Would you consider doing this for the next three years? In doing so, you will have made an investment in the lives of our children that will pay dividends for eternity. Let me thank you, in advance, for your willingness to help.

From Children's Minister, Barbra Smith
We are in exciting times at First Woodway. We are growing and have been blessed with many opportunities to share Christ’s love and truth with children in our community.  From Sunday School to Awana Clubs and Bible Drill, from music to missions, from Vacation Bible School to Pre-Teen Camp, many are coming to know and accept Christ. “Growing Our Future” is more than a building.  It is about growing disciples.  It is about growing spiritually.  It is about growing the kingdom of God. It is about transforming people into spiritual champions! As you consider your involvement, I ask you, first of all, to thank God for His incredible blessing. We are nothing and have nothing apart from Him.  I then ask you to pray about your involvement in “Growing Our Future.”  Below are materials you will find helpful as you further explore the plans for the new building.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where is the new building to be located?
The new building will be located between the office and current building; between the circular drive and the big playground.

Will all children be moving to the new building?
No. Our babies through 3 year olds will be in the new building, as well as our 2nd – 6th graders.  Pre-K – 1st graders will remain on the first floor of the current building.

What will happen to the current kids’ classrooms?
All kids’ classrooms on the second floor, including the WORD and Alley, will be moving to the new building, freeing those classrooms for adult and youth Sunday School space. The classrooms on the current first floor will remain children’s classrooms on Sunday mornings.

What about MDO and First Woodway Christian School?
The new building helps both! Each program will get its own “space” so both can grow. The school will continue to use space in the current building (first and second floors). Mother’s Day Out will move to the new building.

How will this affect adult Sunday School?
A huge advantage of the new building is that it opens up all current second floor classrooms for adults and youth Sunday School. It also gives sound separation making for a more conducive adult educational environment.

What is the Special Needs Suite?
Our special needs ministry has grown. They use five rooms throughout the current building on Sunday mornings.  By rearranging space, we open up a special needs suite. They will have their own entrance and security, and the kids will be able to stay together and not be scattered throughout the building.

Will the playground have to be moved again?
No, the big playground will not be moved, but will be inaccessible during construction.

Why is the proposed third floor empty?
The third floor of the new building will be “shelled out” for future growth. It is less expensive to shell it out now than to add a complete third floor in the future.

Will the buildings be connected?
Yes. You will be able to get from the current building to the new building through a hallway on each level. We will renovate the current building to create one straight hallway from the preschool entrance on the east side of the building to the new building.

Will there be security doors in the new building?
Yes. Inner hallways (where classrooms are located) on the first and second floors will have the ability to be locked down.
