What Makes You Tick, and What Ticks You Off

Led by:  Dr. George Loutherback
Wednesday Evenings @ 6 PM
Room 303-304
Format:  Teaching/Discussion
Cost:  $10.00

Life is filled with relationships.  Relationships either grow deeper or become shallow and nonexistent based on communication.  Everyone has a communication style.  This style comes from your personality type. This seminar will use the Uniquely You personality test to determine your personality type, which will also determine how you communicate with other people.  Some people have a winsome communication style while others may tick you off.  We will discover your personality characteristics and work on how we can get along with people who are different than you are. We will also discover your spiritual gifts and how your personality can maximize your gifts in fulfilling ministry. Come join us and we will enjoy the journey of discovery.

Everything You Wanted to Know About Missions, But Were Afraid to Ask

Led by:  Michelle Telg
Wednesday Evenings @ 7:15 PM
Room 344
Format:  Teaching/Discussion
Cost:  Free
(Childcare is not available)

We use the term “mission” very loosely in our world today. Webster defines mission as a task or job that someone is given to do. The Latin root for our word “mission” means to send. So who is sent to do what? We ask ourselves many questions regarding mission. But are they right questions. We ask what kind of mission does God have for my life? Instead should we not ask how do I fit into God’s mission?  Is missions only for those specially called few or do we need to rethink our idea of mission?

Every year First Woodway sends out short-term mission teams all over the world. Is there a Biblical foundation for this huge investment of time and resources?

Since the beginning of the world God has been pursuing a relationship with mankind.  This is God’s mission in the world that he has called the church to be a part of.  If we understand God is a sending God, how should that affect all our decisions? We will look at the Biblical foundation for missions as well as how our church is involved in the world and why.

Love and Respect

Led by:  Bill Swearingen
Wednesday Evenings @ 6 PM
Room 313-314
Format:  DVD/Discussion
Cost:  $5.00 (Member Book)

“I’ve been married 35 years and have not heard this taught.”

“This is the key that I have been missing… A lightbulb moment.”

These are just a few of the comments from those that have participated in the Love and Respect series.

The message is simple…  A wife has one driving need - to feel loved.  When that need is met, she is happy.  A husband has one driving need - to feel respected.  When that need is met, he is happy.  When either of these needs isn’t met, things get crazy.  Love and Respect reveals why spouses react negatively to each other, and how they can deal with these situations quickly, easily, and biblically.

This class is for all couples who desire to grow deeper, stronger, and more intimate marriages.  It is for the newly married and long-time married couples.  It is for the happily married and those in struggling marriages.  Come enjoy biblical teaching and encouraging conversations that will strengthen your relationship with your spouse.

We are excited to roll out a new curriculum that builds on the basic foundations of Men’s Fraternity, but in an updated and shorter curriculum called 33 The Series.

The first volume of 33 starts with a study called A Man and His Design.  This is a 6 session Bible study designed to inspire and equip men to pursue authentic manhood as modeled by Jesus Christ in His 33 years on earth.  These sessions will explore the basic foundations of authentic manhood and God's clear design for men.  It will provide meaningful insights into the current state of manhood and God’s mandates for all men.  Each participant will learn the four "faces" of manhood and how to anticipate and transition through the specific seasons of life.  Join us on newest adventure towards Authentic Manhood.

Men’s Fraternity is designed to bring Christian men together in a safe, comfortable setting where they can learn the true, biblical meaning of manhood and honestly share their challenges and concerns.

In this second year curriculum, Winning at Work & Home challenges men to step forward, meet their responsibilities, and establish their manhood.  The study focuses on the chief responsibilities men have as husbands, fathers, and breadwinners.  Two mirrors are presented to help men evaluate how they are doing in life:  the mirror of work and career, and the mirror of home and family.  The goal is to better understand and successfully learn how to relate to our family and how to correctly engage in work.
